In the upstairs Pattern Shop there are many displays of the tools and artefacts associated with all the various typical trades required in support of Blenheim Palace. These include carpenters', blacksmiths', cobblers', metal casters’,

wheelwrights’, roof slaters’, pattern makers’ and furniture makers’ tools.

There are old catalogues from which ironmongery and architectural furniture would have been chosen together with old estate ledgers recording the activities of the Mill.

Visitors also have the chance to guess the purpose of a variety of bygone objects on display.


Also to be seen are models of various types of hot air and steam engine.

Of particular interest is the motorised scale model of the Combe Beam Engine, seen on the right, made by the late Adrian Hull.
