The treadle lathe was originally owned by the Leafield builder and decorator W J Dore and was donated by his son. The belt-driven lathe would have been used to turn the hubs for wooden cart and wagon wheels.
In the pattern shop visitors can see several wood turning lathes including an old belt driven lathe from the original estate workshop and a treadle lathe.
