Sissons engine
Downstairs in the workshop area can be seen a collection of small steam engines that includes a Bradford horizontal steam engine, a Sissons single slide valve engine, a Reader single piston valve engine, together with a Weir boiler feed pump,
The Weir pump is used on steaming days to pump condensate back to a condenser.
The small steam engine collection illustrates the evolution of steam engine design since the time of the beam engine.
